Dierdre Friel* (Sister James) First appearance at Triad Stage. Geraldine Librandi* (Sister Aloysius) Off-Broadway: Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You (The Duplex), North Shore Fish (WPA Theatre), The Lunch Hour (Manhattan Theatre Club) and Approaching Simone (La MaMa E.T.C.). Melanie W. Matthews (Mrs. Muller) First appearance at Triad Stage. Regional: A Christmas Carol (North Carolina Shakespeare Festival). Education: Currently pursuing MFA at UNCG; BFA, Professional Theatre, NC A&T.
Creative Team
Preston Lane (Artistic Director, Co-Founder & Director) is in his 7th season at Triad Stage, having directed over 27 productions including: the Grand Opening production Suddenly Last Summer, the award-winning Hedda Gabler and A Streetcar Named Desire, last season's acclaimedTobacco Road and the return of Brother Wolf for An Appalachian Summer Festival, and this season's record-breaking reprise of Beautiful Star. He was formerly Artistic Associate at the Dallas Theater Center where his productions included the US premiere of Inexpressible Island (Dallas Observer Best of Dallas Awards: Best Director, Best Production) and The Night of the Iguana (Dallas Morning News: 2002 Top Ten Theatre List). Other productions include: A Tuff Shuffle (National Black Theatre Festival), Overruled (Off Broadway), Love! Valour! Compassion! (Stage One), and the world premieres of If Only and Get It While You Can(Summer Cabaret). As a playwright, he is recipient of a grant from the Fox Foundation to develop Wondrous Love. Other adaptations and original works include Hedda Gabler, Dracula, Mirandolina, Julie's Dance, Brother Wolf, Beautiful Star, and the upcoming Bloody Blackbeard (Triad Stage), A Christmas Carol (Dallas Theater Center, Sonoma County Rep, Kids Who Care), Three Weeks After Marriage and Helen! (Summer Cabaret). He has taught at UNC Greensboro, N.C. A&T University, NC School of the Arts, Southern Methodist University, and the Professional Actors Workshop at the Dallas Theater Center. He is an alumnus of the Drama League of New York's Director's Project. A native of Boone, NC, Preston received his BFA from the North Carolina School of the Arts and his MFA from the Yale School of Drama.

Deborah Bell (Costume Designer) Triad Stage: The Caretaker, North Star, Proof, A Lesson Before Dying . Regional: The Gondoliers, H.M.S. Pinafore, Damn Yankees, Rags (Seaside Music Theatre); Cannery Row, Children of Eden (Western Stage); As You Like It (Colorado Shakespeare Festival); Uncommon Enemies, Voice of the Prairie (Theatrefest); Ring Around the Moon, Lend Me a Tenor, Voice of the Prairie (Idaho Repertory Theatre). A professor at UNC Greensboro for 27 years, Deborah has designed over 50 operas and dramatic works with the UNCG School of Music and Department of Theatre. In addition to several costume design awards, she has received regional teaching awards as well as the national Herbert D. Greggs Award for her recent article exploring the creative challenges of contemporary mask makers worldwide.
Matthew Richards (Lighting Designer) Triad Stage: Baby with the Bath Water, Hedda Gabbler, An Infinite Ache, Turn of The Screw. Recent and upcoming NYC credits include:Grace (MCC), Seussical (TheatreworksUSA), A Small Melodramatic Story (The Public/LAByrinth), Port Authority (Atlantic Theatre Co.), Drunken City (Playwrights Horizons), One Loss Plus (B.A.M. Next Wave Festival), The Polish Play (Katharsis), A Living Room in Africa (Edge Theatre), Active Eye, ARS Nova, Naked Angels, Rattlestick. Regional credits include: The Alliance Theatre, Baltimore Center Stage, Bay Street Theatre, The Geffen Playhouse, The Hangar Theatre, Huntington Theatre Company, The Old Globe, New York Stage and Film, The Repertory Theater of St. Louis, Skylight Opera Theater, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Wolf Trap Opera, and Yale Repertory Theatre. Matthew is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama, and The University of Massachusetts.
Gèneva B. Conaway Bennison (Sound Designer) First appearance at Triad Stage. Regional/Local: Beauty and the Beast, Footloose, Smoke on the Mountain (The Little Theatre of Winston-Salem); The Devil and Kate (North Carolina School of the Arts). New York: Ballet Hispanico, Manhattan Theatre Club. Education: BA, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Currently pursuing an MFA at North Carolina School of the Arts.
Christine Morris (Resident Voice/Dialect Coach) is pleased to be working at Triad Stage again, having recently coached Mrs. Warren's Profession and Sleuth. She is on the theatre faculty at UNCG, where she teaches voice/speech and acting and directed Sweeney Todd last fall. She has voice coached many theatrical productions, video and audio projects, and has worked with private clients in business, entertainment, and television journalism. Regional acting credits include: New York Shakespeare Festival, The Public Theatre, Playmakers Repertory, Archipelago Theatre, and Manbites Dog. Member of Actors Equity Association, Screen Actors' Guild, and the Voice and Speech Trainers Association (VASTA), also serving on the VASTA board of directors.
Cindi Rush (Casting Director) New York: Jacques Brel, Six Dance Lessons In Six Weeks, The Thing About Men, Showtune, I Sing, Urinetown, Say Goodnight Gracie. Catherine Hagner* (Stage Manager) Triad Stage: 35 productions fromThe Rainmaker through Mrs. Warren's Profession. She joined the company after serving as Production Stage Manager for American Stage in St. Petersburg, Florida, for four seasons. Ms. Hagner received a BA in Theatre and English from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, and completed an apprenticeship in Directing/Dramaturgy at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis.

Internships run from August 2008 to July 2009. Triad Stage internships provide meaningful and valuable training for recent college graduates or graduate students. Stipend and housing provided.
