Bruce Molsky

Bruce Molsky comes at southern roots and blues on fiddle, banjo, guitar and song with great depth of spirit.  Known for his collaborations with musicians of other cultures, his wide-angled approach to traditional folk music has influenced a generation of players.  Concert-goers know that an evening with Bruce Molsky will be intimate and riveting.

In addition to solo performances, he tours with Highland, Heath & Holler which is Bruce, Martin Hayes and Alasdair Fraser.  He is also a member of Andy Irvine & Dónal Lunny's acclaimed Mozaik, and he tours frequently as guest artist with Aly Bain & Ale Möller. 
Bruce’s band Fiddlers 4 with Darol Anger & Michael Doucet was a 2003 Grammy Nominee. Bruce's solo concerts, CDs and educational programs have become staples for fans of American traditional and world music everywhere.  His newest solo CD is Soon Be Time

The Poetry Cafe

Laurelyn Dossett was born in Birmingham, Alabama and raised in a hymn-singing family. She is the 2004 winner of Merlefest's Chris Austin Songwriting Contest for her gospel song, “Come by Here.”  In 1997 she founded the band Polecat Creek with singing partner Kari Sickenberger;  they have two CDs:  Salt Sea Bound and Leaving Eden. Leaving Eden’s title track, about the lost of textile jobs in Eden, NC, has been featured in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and on the BBC.  Laurelyn and playwright Preston Lane have collaborated on three plays: Triad Stage's Brother Wolf, Beautiful Star: An Appalachian Nativity and Bloody Blackbeard. She lives in Greensboro, North Carolina with her husband and three daughters.
